Jermaine Scott came to FAU from the University of Virginia as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Carter G. Woodson Institute for African-American and African Studies. His research interests include the cultural politics of sport, Black politics, Black diaspora studies, Black popular culture, and postcolonial studies. His forthcoming manuscript, Black Soccer: Football and Politics in the African Diaspora, seeks to understand how Black footballers used the sport as a diasporic site of Black politics, renegotiating their relationship to the nation-state. His writings have been included in ESPN’s The Undefeated, the African American Intellectual History Society’s Black Perspectives, and the Journal of Sports History.
