Nonprofit Executive Leadership Certificate

Leading for-impact organizations requires unique knowledge and skills that are available through this professionally-oriented certificate program. By enrolling in this certificate program, you will gain:

  • Leadership skills to develop effective solutions to problems
  • Enhanced capacities in financial and human capital management
  • New networks of colleagues across the South Florida region

Students may enroll in this 12-credit professional graduate certificate program while pursuing a graduate degree at FAU or it can be a steppingstone to the Master of Nonprofit Management (MNM) degree. For admission to this certificate program, students should have a B average (3.0) at the graduate level or an overall undergraduate GPA of 3.0. Students not matriculating at FAU should complete a non-degree-seeking student application through the FAU Registrar’s Office.

Earning this certificate requires the completion of two required courses and two elective courses with a grade of "B" or better:

Required:

  • Introduction to Nonprofit Management (PAD 6142) – 3 credits
  • Public Policy and Nonprofit Organizations (PAD 6143) – 3 credits

Electives:

  • Your choice from over 10 MNM courses such as Financial Management for Nonprofit Managers or Human Resource Management for Nonprofits

Students who complete this certificate may choose to then enroll in the full MNM program, with these four courses counting toward that degree.
