Dustin White is an Assistant Professor of Structural Design in the School of Architecture at Florida Atlantic University. Over the course of his career, he has taught a diverse range of undergraduate and graduate courses, including architecture and interior design studios, structures, furniture design, visualization, and digital fabrication.
Dustin’s work bridges multiple creative disciplines including architecture, interior design, furniture design, exhibition design, material innovation, and digital fabrication fostering interdisciplinary collaboration to explore new design possibilities. His approach is guided by advanced computational tools, sustainability principles, and innovative fabrication techniques, ensuring efficiency and environmental responsibility. He prioritizes maximizing material resources and energy, reducing waste while enhancing the creative and functional impact of his work. By integrating traditional craftsmanship with digital and emerging technologies, he develops hybrid practices that leverage the strengths of diverse methodologies. His process is strategically structured to optimize time, labor, and value engineering, resulting in efficient, high-impact design solutions.
Currently, his work explores industrial material waste streams, developing partnerships with industry to transform waste into usable artifacts, structures, and products through additive manufacturing processes.
Dustin’s work has resulted in numerous peer-reviewed publications, book chapters and been exhibited internationally, including at the Marmomac Stone Expo “Italian Stone Theater Exhibition” in Verona, Italy (2019, 2022, 2023, 2024), the Venice Architecture Biennale (2021), Transductions: Artificial Intelligence in Architecture Experimentation at Pratt Institute (2025), Constructing Futures AI in Detroit, MI (2024), the Theater of Digital Art Dubai (TODA) (2024), The PASEO Art Festival in Taos, NM (2017), the Italian Cultural Institute in Washington, D.C. (2022), the Italian Consulate of New York (2021) and the Museo d’Arte Contemporanea a Cielo Aperto (MACCA) in Peccioli, Italy, where his project Crsp-Locus is permanently installed (2024).
His research, teaching, and design work have received recognition from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Florida, AIA Fort Lauderdale, Mobile Detroit 2050, Surface Awards London, NYCxDESIGN New York, SXSW Eco Austin, TX, and Friends of the High Line in New York.
Before joining FAU, Dustin served as Director of Digital Technologies and Fabrication and Associate Undergraduate Chair at the New York Institute of Technology’s School of Architecture and Design. He has also taught as a Visiting Assistant Professor and Director of Digital Fabrication at Texas Tech University.
Dustin earned his Master of Architecture from Clemson University and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at Politecnico di Bari in Bari, Italy.
