Position Summary:

The Department of English at Florida Atlantic University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin August 2022. We invite applications from candidates with teaching and research interests in U. S. Latinx literatures, including Afrolatinx literatures, and/or Latinx Rhetoric and Composition.  Special attention may be given to candidates whose work speaks to the culture, demographics, and geography of South Florida.

The new hire will contribute substantially to FAU’s Comparative Studies PhD program and to the university’s developing Peace, Justice, and Human Rights Initiative. The new faculty member may also contribute to interdisciplinary programs such as Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to participate in the Study of the Americas Initiative and join the Afrolatinx Diaspora Faculty cluster in the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters.

The hired candidate will teach on the Boca Raton campus. We seek a candidate who will balance high-quality scholarship, excellence in teaching, and committed service. Faculty typically teach a 3-2 course schedule.  There will be the opportunity to teach and mentor students in the Department’s MA and MFA programs, as well as in the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters’ interdisciplinary PhD program, the Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies’ MA and undergraduate programs, and other interdisciplinary programs within the College.

Minimum Qualifications:

PhD from an accredited institution in English or Comparative Literature, or related field, at time of appointment, publication record in field, and relevant teaching experience at the college level.
