Telephone System

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is transitioning the university’s phone system to Microsoft Teams Phone, a modern, cloud-based telephony solution integrated with Microsoft 365. This service is available to faculty and staff who require telephone capabilities, offering a wide range of standard and advanced features such as voicemail, call forwarding, and integration with Outlook and Teams meetings.

OIT's Communication Infrastructure department is responsible for maintaining the university telephone system, which include services such as phones, voicemail, call routing, smartphones, cell phones, Comcast cable TV installations, and cabling.

Wired and Wireless Usage Verification Form

In order to comply with Audit requirements, a detailed report of Personnel Usage Charges for wired/wireless devices are sent via e-mail each month to every employee. A reimbursement must be made for all personal calls made from your wired telephone(s) and for personal usage that exceeds your wireless plan(s).

  • Submit reimbursement for any personal calls on wired and wireless devices through FAU Marketplace (epay); the link is Repayments - Phone Bill Payment
  • Sign and retain a copy of the Verification form & reimbursement receipt for Audit purposes.

For any questions about telephone billing, please send an e-mail to: phonebillhelp@fau.edu.

Location Accuracy

Microsoft Teams uses location information to enhance emergency calling by providing precise dispatchable locations to emergency services. This ensures that if a Teams user makes an emergency call, their accurate location is sent to the appropriate Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP), whether they are working onsite or remotely.

We strive to ensure all location data is accurate. If you notice any incorrect locations, please inform us so we can make the necessary corrections.
