Preparing for Your Consultation

The Technology:

The online consultation system relies on Adobe's Flash web browser plug-in. To avoid technical difficulties, please make sure you have the most up-to-date version of the Adobe Flash Player. To obtain the latest version, please direct your browser to this site: http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer.

As these sessions rely heavily on verbal communication, it is mandatory that you have a headset plugged in. If your headset is of the USB variety, ensure that it is plugged in and working properly. If your headset is of the standard type, please ensure that the microphone and headphone jacks are plugged into their proper locations.

Although not required, you may use a webcam. After all, you will be able to see your consultant, why not let them see you? If you do wish to use a webcam, please be sure you have it properly installed in accordance with your webcam's manufacturer.

Please ensure you have a digital copy of your paper and the assignment prompt prepared and in a location where you can find it. You will be required to upload your paper and prompt to the consultant during the session. It is also a good idea to have any readings required nearby for the most effective session.
