Focus areas

Since the ocean energy industry is still developing, a wide variety of areas need development to responsibly and quickly advance them to commercialization. FAU’s Southeast National Marine Renewable Energy Center (SNMREC) is leveraging public and private funds to address as many of these areas as possible. To make some sense of the challenges that remain and to address them systematically, SNMREC has organized its contributions into major focus areas:

These areas are inter-related and stem from servicing the three major aspects of ocean energy projects: the public, technology, and the environment. SNMREC is pursuing the focus areas through research and active development programs which will deliver tangible solutions, methods, and information for the industry to use.
