Among SNMREC’s contributions to the marine energy industry are technical solutions to problems that may be shared across the sector or that a particular technology approach must address. Solutions aim to provide a reduction in the cost of energy for future commercial development offshore, while also fast-tracking commercialization by reducing the burden on individual companies to solve problems that may be common to the industry.

SNMREC leverages partnerships with companies and researchers to help answer these questions and develop solutions. Many of the challenges require custom research equipment to be designed, constructed, and tested. With over a decade of marine energy technology development, the specialized expertise of FAU’s engineers and researchers is also often needed when not found in the private sector.
