Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How does Florida Atlantic University (hereafter, FAU) know I have Florida Prepaid?

At the beginning of each term, FAU matches a list of currently enrolled students to Florida Prepaid’s database using the students’ social security number. There is no need to check-in with the Controller’s Office with your Florida Prepaid card. However, please ensure your social security number is on file with the Registrar’s Office so we can bill your account. Please contact the Registrar’s Office to confirm that your social security number is on file by calling 561-297-3050.

  2. How will FAU bill my Florida Prepaid account?

Billing of Florida Prepaid is an automated process completed after the add/drop period of each term and is based on the number of credit hours a student is enrolled in each term.

  3. When will Florida Prepaid be applied to my account?

Florida Prepaid payments are posted approximately three to four weeks after the last day to pay for the applicable part of term.

Although, the Florida Prepaid billing process is automated, the files must be uploaded and accepted by Florida Prepaid before payments are processed and sent to FAU. Approximately two weeks after the file is accepted, Florida Prepaid will generate a payment file that is sent to FAU. Shortly after FAU receives the file, Florida Prepaid will be applied to your account.

You will receive an email notification once your Florida Prepaid account has been billed with the expected payment date. You will then receive a second email notification once payment has been applied to your account.
