CREATE Program

FAU wants to nurture creativity in Broward County, specifically revealing pathways and careers in the arts to high school students. Please remember these points before you complete the application.

  • The CREATE program is a 2-year commitment that includes a week-long summer class introduction (July 20-24, 2026 from 9am-3pm) to fine arts careers and monthly workshops during the school year. (Attendance is mandatory.)
  • Applicants must be sophomores with a minimum GPA of 2.5
  • This is a competitive application process; up to 25 Broward County Public High School students will be accepted. Students must be currently enrolled at one of the following: Blanche Ely, Boyd H. Anderson, Coconut Creek, Ft. Lauderdale, McArthur, Plantation, or Pompano Beach.
  • This program is FREE and all supplies, transportation, and food/beverages will be provided.
  • Application deadline is April 12, 2026. Students will be notified by May 4, 2026.
  • Once accepted, you will sign an agreement that states you will participate in the mandatory workshops and summer classes. Additionally, your guardian/parent will also agree to the program and attend one/two workshops.

CREATE students will:

  • visit cultural venues
  • engage with and shadow professionals in a variety of settings
  • create their resume and complete work/college applications
  • create a portfolio
  • network with other Broward County high school students
  • include their families so they understand careers in the arts are viable
  • use community resources to help network and succeed
