Media Sentiment Analysis for Supply Chain Risk Assessment

Media Sentiment Analysis for Supply Chain Risk Assessment

Overview

This project uses Artificial Intelligence to process and analyze data from various media sources with the goal to predict and assess any potential disruptions that can put our nation’s Supply Chain at risk. The Department of Defense is constantly looking for ways to improve Supply Chain Management. This task can often be extremely complex, with massive amounts of data, and constantly changing. Our Risk Assessment & Analysis Tool analyzes multiple media streams via keyword search, similar to how you look for something on Google. This algorithm generates geographical identification or “geo-tag”, as well as “timestamps” the data that is being retrieved from the search. This data is then processed and analyzed in order to find different characteristics like bias and sentiment. Finally, these findings are presented in an organized and user-friendly manner. Our product will be able to run 24/7, process large amounts of data, produce effective visualization and high-quality overview of supply chain risk metrics for decision makers at the Department of Defense.

Community Benefit

Supply Chain disruptions are a constant threat to any nation around the world. It creates higher prices and shortages. It also affects commodities such as generic drugs or energy, as well as increases the cost of living and the provision of basic needs. By developing this project, we are contributing to the DoD's overall effort to reduce Supply Chain disruptions in our country.
