LIbAR for Digital Twin

LIbAR for Digital Twin

Overview

LibAR is a one-stop shop product that implements an augmented reality assistant on a HoloLens 2 to aid the students and staff of FAU library to have everything at their fingertips! Utilizing hand gestures and naturally speaking to the virtual assistant, students and staff members can take advantage of features to access all of FAU Library’s capabilities. This includes features to see a dashboard or printers and available computers, desks, and study rooms, IT staff can view the health of computers and view/submit tickets for specific workstations. Students can search for books by author, title, or general topic. Using LibAR, students can also book a video conferencing room. Users are guided by voice and spectacular visual animations to exactly where a book or room is. All these features can be interacted with by using hand gestures, glances, or voice commands.

Community Benefit

LibAR is implemented to provide two different HoloLens2 based AR user experiences which consists of a student and staff role. Within the FAU library there is limited assistance from staff to help students receive guidance assistance throughout the library. Therefore, we designed LibAR to serve as a great asset to the FAU library in helping staff and students being able to reserve a study room, find a book, manage the health of computers, and asking an Owl for help using voice commands.
