Automatic Multimedia Metadata Tagging & Text Summarization

Automatic Multimedia Metadata Tagging & Text Summarization

Overview

The goal of this project is to create and develop a system that will allow the US Navy to help and train service members. Currently, the US Navy lacks a quick and deployable solution to educate service members in an active environment. This essentially means that most forms of education that occur take place in a classroom-like setting where there is a curriculum. However, due to the large amount of information if an individual lacks knowledge in a certain area the only solution is to notify a more experienced individual which Is not ideal in critical moments. As such, the objective of this project is to create a system in which educational multimedia files can be accessed readily and quickly by any service member. The goal is that once an educational file is uploaded three main things happen the file is read and a summary is created based on the information in the file, context tags are generated based on the file content and metadata, and the generated data Is uploaded to a database in which it can be searched by service members. These three main components should be displayed in a concise manner which would allow unexpected service members to find relevant information to a problem and be more capable of solving it with educational materials that have been uploaded into the system.

Community Benefit

The benefit of our project is to create a unified system that will allow for a quick and deployable solution to educate service members in an active environment. Moreover, our project will provide service members a fast and efficient method to educate themselves on a plethora of issues that can arise while in the field.
