Image Acquisition System for Ocean Lander

Overview

The proposed image acquisition system is a new and improved ocean lander device, designed for the scientific observation of marine life. With multiple cameras peering through its acrylic body, the system is optimized for simultaneous 360° observation of underwater landscapes. It is equipped with a powerful Jetson Nano computer that implements newly developed machine learning algorithms, enabling the ocean lander to identify fish in their natural environments. This is done via the observation of their unique features.

Community Benefit: This image acquisition system will provide researchers with abundant information related to fish species, size, and count, in any body of water. The scientific community will greatly benefit from the information collected, as the system can be used for research, fish farming, and measuring the overall health of an ecosystem.
