Turning Unknown Places into Familiar Spaces

Project 35

Overview

Our project, "Turning Unknown Places into Familiar Spaces," combines robotics and pathfinding algorithms to map and navigate indoor environments, specifically designed to enhance the mobility of individuals with disabilities. It utilizes a robotic platform that scans a given area to detect potential navigation hazards and translates this data into optimized, accessible paths that are presented through a user-friendly smartphone app.

Community Benefit

The initiative of our project aims to increase the independence and safety of individuals with mobility impairments by providing them with detailed pre-navigational information about unfamiliar spaces and also addresses broader accessibility concerns, making indoor environments more inclusive and safer for all.
