“Right To Know” Trustworthy AI Project
Overview
The "Right to Know-Trustworthy AI" Project by Group 16 focuses on addressing privacy concerns related to the widespread use of Large Language Models (LLMs), which are often trained on extensive public datasets that may unintentionally include personal information. Our project aims to create a publicly accessible framework that helps individuals determine whether their data is present in LLMs, understand the potential privacy risks, and request the removal of their data from future versions of the models. By developing an open-source platform and a public website, our initiative provides users with the tools to manage their digital presence while fostering a deeper understanding of data privacy and transparency in AI systems. Our findings highlight vulnerabilities in LLMs that allow sensitive information to be extracted, emphasizing the need for enhanced privacy safeguards and stronger regulatory frameworks.
Community Benefit
Our project provides valuable advantages to the community by enabling individuals to understand and manage their digital footprint in Large Language Models (LLMs). Through an open-access platform, it emphasizes data privacy, fosters transparency, and empowers users to make informed decisions about their online data. The open-source nature of the initiative allows researchers, developers, and policymakers to expand on our framework, promoting collaboration in ethical AI development. Our findings on LLM vulnerabilities highlight the need for better privacy safeguards, influencing future AI regulations. The "Right to Know" project also features an intuitive website, making it easy for users to assess their data presence in LLMs. Additionally, educators and advocacy groups can use the platform as a tool to raise awareness about privacy issues, further benefiting society. Ultimately, the project not only helps individuals protect their digital identities but also contributes to shaping responsible AI practices and stronger privacy standards.
