IguanaGuard

Project 24

Overview

The Iguana is a reptile native to Central and South America, it is considered an invasive species in Florida. They are damaging to the environment, compete with native wildlife, eat native foliage, and can spread disease through their droppings. Our project IguanaGuard provides automatic iguana detection and deterrence. Using computer vision and AI, we can automatically detect iguanas. Then through our escalation deterrence model, and a variety of deterrence methods we then can deter the iguana. IguanaGuard’s design promotes non-invasive, non-disruptive, and Eco-friendly methods, that will mainly affect iguanas and not other wildlife and people.

Community Benefit

IguanaGuard provides an Eco-friendly and humane solution for invasive iguanas. By deterring iguanas, we can reduce damage done to property and infrastructure and protect local ecosystems and biodiversity.
