Don't Drive Here

Project 25

Overview

Don't Drive Here is a web application designed to help Florida's drivers better understand which roads are most dangerous in certain circumstances. The platform utilizes historical crash data from the FDOT to create a user friendly & useful data visualization system. The platform transforms raw crash data into easy to digest information, enabling Florida residents to make informed decisions about their travel routes, thus contributing to improved road safety awareness.

Community Benefit

Don’t Drive Here was created to help address public safety on Florida's roadways. Alarmingly, Florida’s crash fatality rate exceeds the national average by 24.2% (IIHS, 2024). Additionally, from 2010 to 2022, the state experienced a 77% increase in pedestrian deaths as compared to the national average increase of only 22% (GHSA, 2022).
