Gait Monitoring Device

Sponsored by: Multimedia Lab, Florida Atlantic University

Abstract
Our project is a compact “Gait Monitoring Device” used to identify walking abnormalities. Data collected from an IMU’s attached to the user’s foot and from sensor-quipped eyeglasses is sent to a mobile app which will process, analyze, and store the data for evaluation. The eyeglasses used are Jins MEME ES_R glasses containing an IMU and electrooculography sensors allowing for motion and eye-tracking. We seek to improve over existing gait tracking technology using our combination of head and foot mounted sensors. Community Benefit: Our project allows for the monitoring of gait and other motion in an unrestrictive manner. This enables better tracking of the progress of patients recovering from injuries or undergoing physical therapy.
