incoming Transfer Students

Congratulations on your recent acceptance to Florida Atlantic University! We are so pleased you are joining the Owl family and look forward to welcoming you to campus and working with you over the next two years.

In order to ease your transition to FAU, all transfer students are required to complete Virtual Orientation. You will learn about various university resources such as financial aid, academic support services, career development, campus life and more.  Sign up for virtual orientation at www.fau.edu/orientation/transfer/ .

As a transfer student, you may have already satisfied program requirements from your previous coursework. To ensure you are provided with credit for course requirements already satisfactorily completed and so we can advise you to take the appropriate classes, we need you to do the following as soon as possible:

  • Send an official copy of your transcripts to for every institution you previously attended. Transcripts can be sent to:
    Florida Atlantic University
    Office of Undergraduate Admissions
    777 Glades Road
    PO Box 3091
    Boca Raton, FL 33431-0991

  • If you have any Advance Placement (AP) credit, Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE) credit, College-Level Exam Program (CLEP) scores or International Baccalaureate (IB) credit, send an official copy to the Office of Admissions. More details are available at https://www.fau.edu/admissions/examcredit.php .

For transfer students who do not have an Associate of Arts degree, you will be required to have your general education course work evaluated.  You will need to submit an IFP audit at https://www.fau.edu/uas/IFP_audit.php

Transfer students and students with more than 45 credits are advised by the Division of Engineering Student Services and Advising (DESSA).  You can make an appointment with your DESSA advisor on the Success Network.

Additional Information for International, Out-of-State, or Florida Private School Students

If you took courses at any non-Florida post-secondary institutions, we may need more information from you. Make sure to contact your advisor once you have been admitted to FAU. It is important to begin working with your advisor promptly in order to have your transfer credits evaluated before orientation.

Please note that while FAU may accept a course you took for credit, this does not guarantee that the College of Engineering and Computer Science will accept the course towards one of your degree requirements.

International Students – Although you submitted a NACES-accredited evaluation at the time you applied to FAU, we may require additional information such as a course syllabi or catalog course descriptions for any computer science or engineering courses that you would like to receive credit towards your degree requirements.
