Florida Atlantic University Summer Band Camp

Florida Atlantic University’s Department of Music is pleased to be able to host a comprehensive one-week summer band camp for elementary band students funded through the generosity of the Boca West Children’s Foundation. Five elementary schools and students rising into six affiliated middle schools will attend camp during the week of July 28 through August 1, 2025. Band camp is held on Florida Atlantic’s Boca Raton campus. All students come from higher poverty areas in Palm Beach County.

The camp experience offers each student one-on-one, small group, and large ensemble instruction from a team of highly accomplished and certified music specialists, including public school teachers, university professors, and world-class professional musicians.

Through intensive individual and small group instruction, students realize their own contribution to the success of a larger group, improved performance skills, positive work habits, and intrinsic rewards that are the greatest source of increased self-worth. The values and levels of confidence that each student gains as a result of their camp experience, will be a positive influence into other areas of their lives.

By the conclusion of camp, each student can perform a minimum of five music selections in a clear, impressive manner. This includes our “beginner band” with students who just learned on Monday how to put together their instrument, to the “advanced band” of students who have played for a year or more.  We welcome members of the Boca West Children’s Foundation to join these students’ families and friends to attend this final concert on Friday, Aug 1 at 2 p.m. held in the University Theater.
