Horby Lopez is a graduate of Florida International University, where he earned both his Bachelor’s (BM) and Master’s (MM) degrees in Music Performance. He is a freelance tubist and brass clinician based in South Florida, as well as a versatile multi-instrumentalist—performing on bass, guitar, and self-taught drums. He has performed with several distinguished ensembles, including the former Florida Philharmonic
Orchestra, Florida Grand Opera, Florida Atlantic Orchestra, South Florida Symphony Orchestra, Miami Symphony, Miami Wind Symphony, Alhambra Orchestra, Opera Naples, and the former Hollywood Philharmonic. He has also shared the stage with renowned artists such as trumpeter Arturo Sandoval, saxophonist Paquito D’Rivera, pianist Kemal Gekic, singers Peabo Bryson and Patty Navidad, trombonist Bill
Watrous, and Broadway star Idina Menzel. He is a founding member of the Miami Low Frequency Tuba Quartet, for which he also arranges music.
