Self-Reported transcript and Academic Record system (STARS)
Those who are receiving their education in the United States or are enrolled in institutions that follow a curriculum modeled on the U.S. educational system, are required to complete the Self-Reported Transcript and Academic Record System (STARS). The STARS— formerly SSAR—allows students to enter all courses and associated grades that have been attempted, or will be attempted, for high school and/or college credit without requiring the submission of an official transcript to the university (official transcripts will be required after high school graduation only).
As part of your application to Florida Atlantic University, you will receive an email after submitting your application with instructions to complete the application process by submitting your test scores and your STARS. This system allows you to accurately self-report all your high school courses and grades. Students should have their official grades at hand when reporting this information, as inaccurate information may affect enrollment and scholarship status.
All your coursework should be listed under the high school from which you will graduate, even if you have attended multiple high schools.
When entering your coursework, please enter it by semester. Be sure to mark your 12th-grade 1st and 2nd semester classes as “in progress” courses if they are not yet completed at the time of application. Please do not enter final grades for these courses and do not report your quarterly grades. Florida Atlantic University uses the information provided in STARS to recalculate your core, weighted GPA, ensuring that all applicants are evaluated on a consistent and fair scale.
Please note: If you are currently attending a Florida public high school, please request that your school counselor submit your official transcript electronically through the SPEEDE or FASTER system instead of the STARS. We will not accept or use paper transcripts or those sent through other platforms or channels.
If you have already graduated from high school and are applying to FAU as a first-year student, please ensure that your high school sends us your final, official high school transcript in lieu of STARS.
International freshman applicants attend a variety of different educational systems. Students educated in the United States, or attending a school that follows an educational curriculum patterned after the U.S. system, should create the Self-Reported Transcript and Academic Record System (STARS) with the directions below.
All applicants with foreign credentials should submit an official NACES member evaluation of their transcripts of all secondary school records and/or examination results.
