Biology Immersion

Freshman/First-Year students entering Florida Atlantic during Summer Term three (June 27-August 7) are invited to participate in this newly designed Biology Course and Field/Lab experience.

Biology Immersion students will enroll in-person on Boca Raton campus for one general education course and a Biological Sciences class with immersive lab experience with faculty. A couple of examples of immersive experiences include:

On-campus conservation area where students may research and observe tortoises and owls as well as using the same area to explore antibiotic research and discovery
Gumbo Limbo marine laboratory to explore sand temperatures and sea turtles, biodiversity and animal conservation
familiar with microscopes, interpret scientific papers and graphs

Why Biology Immersion?

After graduating from high school this is a small-scale, academically friendly environment to learn and grow in your knowledge of Biology and the environment in addition to your academic courses.

As an incoming student this experience is designed to connect you to Biology Faculty, Peer Mentors and Researchers. These academic leaders will play a pivotal role in your academic success throughout your experience at Florida Atlantic.

Students will pay tuition and fees and buy/rent books/supplies for their two courses. There is no extra cost to participate in Biology Immersion labs/activities.

How do students enroll?

Students receive an email about opting in after being offered admission. The university will note this in their student record. When the student completes their EZ Advising module (in owldone.fau.edu) their advisor will inform them of the Biology Course details and General Education course registration process.
