The Wilkes Honors College also offers a faculty-led Summer Abroad Program in Paris and Aix-en-Provence. Students may complete up to seven Honors credits toward the minor while studying in France during the summer.

The Minor Concentration in French is an official academic credential that appears on the student’s Wilkes Honors College transcript upon graduation. Completion of the minor demonstrates academic competency in French as well as sustained engagement with Francophone cultures.

Students who enter the Wilkes Honors College with no prior experience in French may declare the minor after completing Honors FRE 1120 Beginning French Language and Culture 1 and Honors FRE 1121 Beginning French Language and Culture 2, the two-course sequence that fulfills FAU’s foreign language requirement. Students who place at the intermediate level may begin the minor directly. Students who place at the advanced level, as well as native speakers of French, may begin the minor at the 3000 level. Students with prior experience in French must take the French Placement Test to confirm placement at the appropriate level.  Please email a screenshot of your score to Prof. Tille-Victorica.

For general information about the Minor Concentration in French, to declare the minor, or to request permission to register for French courses, please contact Prof. Tille-Victorica at ntillevictorica@fau.edu.
