Internal Medicine Residency Continuity Clinics
The Internal Medicine Residency Continuity Clinics are a core component of the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Florida Atlantic University, Schmidt College of Medicine. These clinics provide residents with longitudinal outpatient experience while delivering comprehensive primary care to adult patients.
Under the supervision of board-certified internal medicine faculty, resident physicians work alongside experienced clinical staff to care for patients age 18 and older. Together, they provide a wide range of preventive, diagnostic, and chronic care services in a continuity-based clinical setting.
Services & Procedures
Services offered at the clinics include:
- Annual physical examinations and Medicare wellness visits
- Preventive care and age-appropriate health screenings
- Management of acute and chronic conditions, including diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, asthma, anxiety, and depression
- Women's health services, including breast exams and Pap smears
- Men's health services, including prostate cancer screening
- Immunizations and vaccinations
- Counseling and patient education on healthy lifestyle topics, including weight management
- Health promotion and education for adults (age 18 and older)
- Minor procedures, including wound care and suture or staple removal
- On-site diagnostic testing, including:
- Diabetes screening and monitoring
- Cholesterol screening
- Strep throat and influenza testing
- Urinary tract infection testing
- Pregnancy testing
- INR testing
- Tuberculosis skin testing
- Lung function testing
- Breathing treatments for asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
- Joint injections for pain management
- Referrals to specialty care as needed

Payment & Insurance
The continuity clinics accept most major insurance plans and Medicare. Self-pay options are also available. Financial assistance may be available for those who qualify. Coverage and payment options may vary by clinic location. Please call the clinic to confirm accepted insurance plans.
