Internal Medicine Residency Extras
Resident Committees
Recruitment Committee
- Led by PGY2 & 3s but involving all classes, this committee helps in the recruitment efforts for the incoming intern class
- Facilitates the weekly "meet and greet" on Zoom during interview season
- Spends time on interview day answering questions and getting to know applicants
- Function as liaisons for post-interview questions
- Send personal welcome messages (phone, text, video chat) to matched interns
Events & Wellness Committee
- Plans and implements various events during the year
- Surveys residents on their needs and helps the leadership address those needs
- Made up of all representatives from all 3 classes of residents
Service/Outreach Programs

Volunteering at local health fairs
- Providing health screens such as A1c point-of-care testing as well as BP and BMI screening
- Recruit patients to our two continuity clinics
- Great chance to “give back” to the local communities where we live and learn

Collecting donations for various areas of need
- Holiday toy drive
- Toiletries drive

Volunteering at a local clinic with medical students
Research and Scholarship Support

Residents have access to resources to help with their research projects
- Statisticians, Covidence, RedCap, mentorship, etc

Residents are encouraged to submit posters and presentations to regional and national meetings
- Program will cover the cost of all travel and registration if resident is accepted
- Coverage for clinical services is arranged as needed

FAU sponsors a GME Research Symposium each Spring to highlight the work done by our residents and fellows
