Wearable Heart Monitoring Device

Wearable Heart Monitoring Device

Overview

With heart disease being the leading cause of death in America it is important to take action to improve our health standards. The term “heart disease” refers to several types of heart conditions such as heart attack, stroke, heart failure, and much more. To make an impact, we are to assemble a wearable device that predicts heart disease. The wearable device will be able to sense the patient's heart rate, blood flow, ECG, and predict what state of movement the patient is in. This device will allow doctors to gain a better understanding of what types of treatment individual patients need with respect to their unique conditions. The goal we hope to achieve is to increase the lifespan of people with heart disease by creating a device that is able to notify their primary physician if/when they are in a chronic condition. The device will also be used to monitor patients as needed.

Community Benefit

Our device is developed to detect heart disease before it becomes a chronic illness. With America's leading cause of death being heart disease, this device allows doctors to get ahead of the disease.  Doctors can also potentially reduce the causes of heart failure by treating conditions before they become detrimental to the patient.
