4G/5G Data Buoy

4G/5G Data Buoy

Overview

The goal of our project is to create a self-sufficient buoy that is capable of high-speed (4G/5G) long-distance communication of collected sensor data, on request from the user. The sensors we have implemented are salinity, water temperature, and GPS with plans of adding a camera. On request data will be sent in a txt file, with it being organized into columns, with a timestamp on the left to indicate the time the readings were taken. Additionally, the buoy will be able to track airplanes and log their flight data and transmit images. The buoy will be anchored when in the water to prevent drifting.

Community Benefit

Observation and monitoring of the ocean ecosystem is essential to the survival of our planet. This buoy will be able to take and send important data about the ocean without the need for retrieval of the buoy as it can send the data via 4G/5G to the shore. This will allow for quick and easy access to the information needed about the ocean.
