Tips to Beat the Heat

As Summer 2026 begins, Florida Atlantic University wishes every student a season that is fun, restful, and safe. Whether you are working, traveling, taking classes, or spending time with family and friends, a few smart habits can help you stay healthy in the Florida heat and ready for a successful return to campus.

Tips to Beat the Heat

  • Drink water regularly throughout the day, even before you feel thirsty.
  • Plan outdoor activities for the early morning or evening when temperatures are lower.
  • Take breaks in air-conditioned or shaded spaces, especially during the hottest hours.
  • Wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothing and use sunscreen to protect your skin.
  • Know the warning signs of heat illness, including dizziness, headache, nausea, heavy sweating, or confusion, and get help right away if symptoms become severe.

Return Safe and Ready

Before coming back to campus, make time to rest, check your travel plans, review important university updates, and gather what you need for a strong start to the semester. Stay aware of your surroundings, make safe choices while traveling, and look out for your friends. We look forward to welcoming you back refreshed, prepared, and ready for a great year ahead.
