Public Notice of Proposed Tuition Increase

Date: October 21, 2025

This is public notice that the Florida Atlantic University Board of Trustees will consider a proposal to increase the non-resident fees by 15% at a meeting on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. If approved, the increase would be effective beginning Fall 2026.

This proposal will not affect the cost of tuition or fees for resident students.

Rationale and Use of Funds:

The low cost of attendance at Florida’s public institutions is made possible through generous state funding.  Florida Atlantic is seeking to increase out-of-state fees to address rising operational costs and to ensure all students make an equitable contribution toward the educational experience and services.  Out-of-state fees have not been increased in over a decade.  The cost of attendance will remain among the lowest in the country for out-of-state students. Additional revenue generated from the fee increases will be used to cover increasing costs of instruction and other operational costs.

The university is mindful of the potential impact on currently enrolled students. Should this proposal be approved, the university would work directly with affected students to determine if financial assistance options are available.

Board of Trustees Meeting Information:

The FAU Board of Trustees meeting will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 18, 2025. Additional information is available at the FAU Board of Trustees website.

This notice is being posted and has been emailed to all enrolled students in accordance with state law and Board of Governors regulation 7.001, Tuition and Associated Fees.
