Robert Moore, Esq. from OP Solutions and Dr Kalva from MLAB Speak at Innovation in Action

Innovation in Action was an event hosted by Research Park at FAU on 18th March. It united researchers and industry partners to shed light on the inception of their collaboration and the direction in which their work is currently headed.The event served as a platform for FAU researchers to gain insight on finding industry partners relevant to their work. Conversely, it aimed at helping industries find research that could directly impact their businesses and give them a competitive edge in their respective markets.

The success stories shared by current researchers at FAU and their industry partners were the highlight of this event. One such success story is of our industry partner Robert Moore, Esq. (patent attorney, computer engineer & president of OP Solutions) and researchers at Multimedia Systems Lab (MLab). His collaboration with Dr Hari Kalva and Dr Borko Furht from FAU has helped develop video coding standards such as Versatile Video Coding (VVC), Video Coding for Machines (VCM) & Feature Coding for Machines (FCM) amongst others. Robert shared how this collaboration with the university was set in motion and spoke about his vision for future standards in video communication technology.
