CEGE Graduate Students Receive Competitive Awards

Three CEGE graduate students received four competitive awards at the 8th Annual Celebration of Academic Excellence event held by FAU’s College of Engineering and Computer Science in Gangal Hall on March 2nd.  Congratulations to all the awardees! 
 
  • Laura Rojas won the Teaching Assistant of the Year Award for FAU’s College of Engineering and Computer Science. She was nominated by Dr. Jahandar Lashaki owing to​ her valuable contributions to courses such as Environmental Science and Engineering, Air Pollution Control with Lab, and Solid Waste Management. 
  • Laura Martinez won the first-place poster contest award at the master’s level for her presentation titled "Impact of Water Quality in Biogeochemical Clogging of Leachate Collection and Disposal Systems." She is currently completing her master's studies in Civil Engineering (majoring in Water Resources & Environmental Engineering) under Dr. Meeroff’s supervision.
  • Brandyn Nutter won the second-place poster contest award at the doctoral level for his presentation titled "Transforming Scrap Tires into Amine-Modified Activated Carbon Adsorbents for Landfill Gas Purification." He is currently completing his PhD studies in Transportation and Environmental Engineering under Dr. Jahandar Lashaki’s supervision.
  • Laura Rojas won the third-place poster contest award at the doctoral level for her presentation titled "Lanthanum Modified Adsorbent Materials to Remove Phosphorus from Water." She is currently completing her PhD studies in Transportation and Environmental Engineering under Dr. Jahandar Lashaki’s supervision.
