CEGE Hosts Successful "Building Futures" Summer Workshop, Offering Students a Glimpse into Civil and Environmental Engineering
Monday, Aug 11, 2025
From July 28–31, 2025, our department proudly hosted the Building Futures: Civil and Environmental Engineering Summer Camp for students in grades 9–12. The camp offered an immersive, hands-on introduction to the exciting world of engineering.
Led by Dr. Yalan Liu and Dr. Abdellatef, the program engaged students in a wide range of real-world engineering activities. Under Dr. Liu’s guidance, students explored environmental engineering through water quality testing and air pollution analysis. With Dr. Abdellatef, they dove into civil engineering through hands-on experiences in concrete mixing and 3D printing. These projects introduced students to current challenges and innovations in infrastructure and environmental protection.
Through a dynamic mix of labs, lectures, and teamwork, the camp sparked interest in STEM and encouraged students to explore future careers in civil and environmental engineering. We’re proud to support the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers!
