We’re excited to share our latest publication in Natural Hazards , titled “A semi-automated workflow for multi-scenario flood risk mapping using Python and ArcGIS Pro” by Anil Mandal, Madan Chhetri, Fred Bloetscher, Yan Yong, and Hongbo Su.
The study introduces a new mapping method that uses Python and ArcGIS Pro to speed up flood risk assessments by over 85%. It can quickly analyze 48 different flood scenarios, helping communities better prepare for floods.
What’s New:
· Smarter Mapping: Uses high-resolution elevation data and statistics to improve accuracy.
· More Scenarios: Accounts for rainfall, sea level rise, and tides.
· Better Planning: Scores flood risks to help protect critical infrastructure.
Tested in Florida, this tool gives local planners a faster, more reliable way to plan for future flooding.
