Graduate Students Receive Awards at 9th Annual Three Minute Thesis Competition

We are thrilled to announce that two CEGE graduate students received awards at the 9th Annual Three Minute Thesis Competition (3MT®) that was held in-person at the Boca Raton Campus Student Union (March 10-12).  
 
Laura Rojas presented "Developing Materials for Direct Carbon Dioxide Capture from Ambient Air" and received the First-Place Award ($1,000) in  Preliminary Round 3 held on March 11th. Laura obtained a bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering (2023) and a master's degree in Civil Engineering (Water Resources and Environmental Engineering concentration area; 2024) from FAU. She is now a Ph.D. student in Transportation and Environmental Engineering working under the supervision of Dr. Jahandar Lashaki.

Dennis Asante-Sackey, a second-year Ph.D. student in Transportation and Environmental Engineering under the supervision of Dr. Yalan Liu, presented "The Emerging Menaces in Landfill Management: Black Goo and PFAS" and received the Third-Place Award (i.e., Second Runner-up; $250) in Preliminary Round 3 held on March 11th.
