Title IX prohibits all forms of sex discrimination, including sexual harassment, sexual violence, relationship/intimate partner violence, stalking and retaliation against individuals reporting any of these offenses. Some forms of sex discrimination may also violate Florida law.

Title IX requires Florida Atlantic University to respond to complaints alleging sexual harassment, discrimination or sexual misconduct under its own policy regardless of whether a report is made to police and whether a criminal investigation is taking place. This includes addressing student/employee safety and responding to housing, academic and other concerns regardless of whether a person files a report with the police or requests a formal investigation under Title IX Policy. Florida Atlantic University can issue a No Contact Directive and provide other resources and accommodations.

Title IX protects all genders regardless of a person’s sex assigned at birth.

Title IX protects pregnant and parenting students.

Title IX requires that all genders have equal opportunities to participate in sports and receive the benefits of competitive sports.

Title IX requires Florida Atlantic University to have a prompt, impartial, and equitable resolution process to address reports of sexual harassment, discrimination and sexual misconduct.
