The Semi-Autonomous Reckless Driving Enforcement System

Abstract

The main goal of The Semi-Autonomous Reckless Driving Enforcement (SARDE) System is to develop a deployable system that increases both neighborhood and city safety by mitigating the severe impacts of reckless driving. Reckless driving is a significant problem that occurs on all roads and can take many lives. Our system aims to reduce the amount of reckless driving and make roads safer for everyone. We believe that this problem is important to address for two reasons. One, it is a major source of tragedy, and any source of death or serious injury should be considered a problem that needs to be solved. Two, even when such tragedies do not occur, there can be a lack of enforcement against those who are creating the reckless environment.  We aim to develop a system that can detect instances of reckless driving with no human input required once set up. This system should deliver all information gathered to a member of law enforcement responsible for making the decision as to whether the transgression was accurate. The system will also deploy a machine learning model to detect vehicle location and speed, pedestrian movement, and obstructions.
