Times Rankings: FAU College of Engineering and Computer Science First Among Florida SUS Colleges for Computer Science Research Quality

The Computer Science program of the Florida Atlantic University College of Engineering and Computer Science placed 1st for research quality among all universities in the State University System (SUS) of Florida, receiving an exceptional score of 90.2 by Times World Rankings. The Computer Science program is also ranked 3rd overall among Florida’s SUS institutions, underscoring its continued growth and leadership in computing, research, and innovation. This ranking places FAU in the top 25% best universities in the world for Computer Science (Times Rankings, 1,122 institutions across 83 countries). 

“The rankings are a testament to the exceptional work of our faculty, students, and researchers who continue to push the boundaries of innovation in computer science research and education,” said Stella Batalama, Ph.D., dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science. “Our college’s growth and recognition at the global level reflects a shared commitment to academic excellence, impactful research, and outstanding preparation of our students for success in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.”

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings evaluate universities on 18 performance indicators, including teaching, research environment, research quality, industry engagement, and international outlook. The College of Engineering and Computer Science achieved notable results in several categories, including Industry Engagement and International Outlook, highlighting the college’s strong partnerships with industry and global collaborators.

In addition, the Computer Science undergraduate program within the College of Engineering and Computer Science has been recognized for six consecutive years by U.S. News & World Report as one of the Best Undergraduate Computer Science Programs in the nation, demonstrating the program’s sustained excellence and national reputation. 

These achievements of the College of Engineering and Computer Science follow a major milestone for Florida Atlantic University with its inclusion in the U.S. News & World Report 2026 rankings as a Top 100 Public University, earlier this year. Together they reflect the university’s steady upward trajectory and the college’s role in advancing its mission of excellence, innovation, and opportunity.
