Beauty Berry

Beauty Berry is found throughout the eastern United States, and into Mexico and the Caribbean. The purple berries ripen in the fall and are spread by the birds and mammals that feed on them. The insect repellent properties of its terpenoid, callicarpenal, are intriguing and potentially comparable to DEET.
