Graduate Students Setting New Records
Florida Atlantic University’s Graduate College enrollment reached a record high in December , with more than 6,000 degree-seeking students, according to Stephen Steppe, director of admissions.
“This is a testament to the university’s commitment to academic excellence, groundbreaking research and student success,” Steppe said. "Our growing graduate student population reflects Florida Atlantic’s dedication to providing top-tier education and support. We’re excited to see more students choosing FAU for their advanced degrees, and we remain committed to guiding them on their academic journey."
Along with record enrollment, Florida Atlantic also marked another major achievement in December, awarding more than 800 graduate degrees — a 23% increase from December 2022.
Florida Atlantic’s graduate programs continue to gain national recognition, reinforcing the university’s reputation for academic and research excellence. The latest U.S. News & World Report rankings for 2024-25 showcase several FAU graduate programs on the rise:
- Education: No. 107 (up from No. 117)
- Engineering: No. 130 (up from No. 138)
- Environmental engineering: No. 98 (up from No. 99)
- Electrical, electronics and communications engineering: No. 147 (up from No. 150)
- Mechanical engineering: No. 146 (up from No. 166)
- Computer science: No. 148 (up from No. 152)
"The growth in both enrollment and degree conferrals highlights Florida Atlantic’s ongoing commitment to graduate education," said Robert W. Stackman Jr., Ph.D., dean of the Graduate College. "We are dedicated to fostering an enriching and supportive environment that helps students succeed academically, professionally and personally."
