Sponsored Programs Proposal Process (infographic)

A flowchart outlining the steps for a Principal Investigator to prepare and submit a grant proposal.

  1. Idea: Principal Investigator develops a project idea.
  2. Guidance: PI contacts Sponsored Programs for initial guidance.
  3. Development:
    • PI prepares the proposal and scope of work.
    • PI works with Department Coordinator on budget and Pre-award Routing Sheet.
  4. Departmental Approval: Pre-award documents are approved by PI, Chair, and Dean.
  5. Review: Proposal and Pre-award documents are submitted to Sponsored Programs for review.
  6. Submission: PI receives approval and Sponsored Programs submits the proposal.
  7. Funding Result:
    • If Funded: Project proceeds.
    • If Not Funded: PI chooses to Resubmit or find a New Funding Source.
