Grants.gov Workspace

Step 1: Grants.gov Applicant Registration

Before applying for a funding opportunity, you must Register for a Grants.gov account at: https://www.grants.gov/register

Step 2: Add Organization Applicant Profile

Add an organization applicant profile to your Grants.gov account.  Be sure to choose Organization Applicant Profile rather than Individual.

Note: When prompted for FAU’s UEI number, enter: Q266L2NDAVP1

Step 3: OSP Proposal Administrator Authorization for profile roles

After registration, your Grants.gov role request will be sent to OSP for approval.  OSP will then assign your role and you will receive a notification once your role has been assigned and approved.

Once your Workspace roles have been assigned, you are ready to create a proposal using Workspace.

Step 1: Identify the Application Package

Each Workspace application package is specific to a particular grant program and deadline and cannot be used for other grant programs, so the first step in creating a Workspace application is to locate the funding opportunity for which you want to apply using the Grants.gov Search function.

Once the funding opportunity has been identified via the search function, click on the opportunity to view it. Be sure to click all tabs on the View Grant Opportunity screen, e.g., Synopsis, Version History, Related Documents, Package.

On the Package screen, click the Preview link in the Actions column, and then click Download Instructions. Be sure to carefully read the application instructions. In addition, you can preview any application forms by clicking the form links in the Package Forms column.

Step 2: Create Workspace

• From the View Grant Opportunity screen, click the red Apply button.
• Enter the Application Filing Name and click Create Workspace.
• Complete forms and upload required documents such as budgets, biographical sketches, and other supporting materials.

Step 3: Upload Workspace Application to Novelution for Internal Routing and Approval

1. Upload a PDF of the complete Workspace application to Novelution under the Proposal Attachments section.
2. Complete the Novelution proposal record.
3. Route for internal FAU approval.
4. After all internal approvals are secured in Novelution, OSP Proposal Administrator will contact the PI and Research Administrator regarding reviewand submission.

• Sponsored Programs will receive a series of confirmation emails (including the Agency Assigned Tracking Number) and will forward them to the PI and Research Administrator.
• Once proposal has been accepted by the sponsor, the proposal is no longer in Grants.gov.
• To check the proposal status, the PI must contact the sponsoring agency and reference the Agency Assigned Tracking Number.
