Undergraduate Student Presents Research at the 15th Annual Broward Student Research Showcase

Randa Yambo, an undergraduate student and Sociology major at FAU, presented her research at the 15th Annual Broward Student Research Showcase in October 2025. To better understand how university students were adpating to the extreme heat in South Florida, she conducted focus groups, interviews, and photovoice. From her study "Too Hot to Function" she identified, disrupted routines, varied coping strategies, and emotional and physical strain. She argued that extreme heat should be understood as a social disruption rather than a simple weather event.
