Sociology Professor Matty Lichtenstein Presents Recent Report "Jewish Education in New York State"

On November 18, 2025, Dr. Matty Lichtenstein presented her recent report, “Jewish Education in New York State,” published in November 2025. The report draws on an original, large-scale mixed-methods data collection project involving 544 Jewish schools in New York State, the largest network of Jewish schools in the United States.

The meeting was attended by representatives from multiple educational organizations and New York State and municipal government offices. This topic has significant ramifications for educators and policymakers in New York State and beyond, due to the complexities and controversies surrounding public funding for private schools in the United States.
