Florida Atlantic University’s Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters presents “Created Equal: America’s 250-Year Constitutional Journey” with Akhil Reed Amar, Sterling Professor of Law and Political Science at Yale University, on Friday, Sept. 18 at 2 p.m., at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, Boca Raton campus.
Tickets for the public are $20, and $10 for groups of nine or more people. FAU faculty, staff and all student tickets are free. The first 250 patrons will receive a copy of Amar’s book “Born Equal: Remaking America’s Constitution, 1840-1920.”
Amar will explore the profound evolution of the American proposition that “all men are created equal,” tracing its journey from a bold revolutionary promise in 1776 to its realization as a foundational guarantee of equal birthright citizenship within the Reconstruction Amendments. Drawing on insights from his latest work, “Born Equal: Remaking America's Constitution, 1840-1920,” he will lead a deep dive into our constitutional history, followed by a dynamic panel discussion.
