FAU SOA WELCOMES | CHRIS BARIBEAU | FALL ‘25/SPRING ‘26 LECTURE SERIES

Thursday, Feb 26, 2026
The Evans Tree House by modus studio appears as an elongated, tubular structure elevated on slender supports within a dense forest in Arkansas. Its curved wooden slat exterior and exposed geometric steel framework create a sculptural, contemporary treehouse that blends with the surrounding green canopy.

The Florida Atlantic University School of Architecture (FAUSOA) is pleased to welcome Chris Baribeau, AIA, Principal Architect and co-founder of modus studio, for a public lecture on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 3:00 PM at the Broward County Main Library.

Baribeau leads modus studio, a progressive design collective based in Fayetteville, Arkansas, known for its influential, sustainable, and award-winning place-making projects since the firm’s founding in 2008. The practice operates in tandem with its companion fabrication lab, modus shop, bridging architecture with graphic work, prototyping, and hands-on fabrication through a “think, make, do” design methodology.

At the core of Baribeau’s work is a deep commitment to craft and conscious observation. Drawing inspiration from the Ozarks at the threshold between the natural and the built environment he advocates for architecture rooted in everyday experience and developed to be personal, practical, and sustainable. His work consistently explores how thoughtful design and making can produce meaningful spaces that serve communities and elevate daily life.

Baribeau has lectured widely on the firm’s work and business practices and has contributed to numerous acclaimed projects across residential, educational, and civic sectors. His visit to FAU offers students, faculty, and the public an opportunity to engage with a designer whose work bridges regional sensitivity, material craft, and contemporary architectural thinking.
