Neuroscience Graduate Programs in the Schmidt College of Science
The Charles E. Schmidt College of Science offers neuroscience doctoral programs in a range of disciplines and study areas. Students can study neuroscience in the Department of Psychology's cognitive or behavioral track Experimental Psychology Ph.D. program, the Department of Biological Sciences' Integrative Biology - Neuroscience program, or the newly established Neuroscience Graduate Program (NGP).
World-Class Neuroscience
Research and academic partnerships with Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience, FAU Stiles-Nicholson Brain Institute, FAU Institute for Human Health and Disease Intervention, Center for Complex Systems and Brain Sciences, and with colleges and labs across the University.
Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology: Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience
The Department of Psychology offers a Ph.D. degree in Experimental Psychology with specializations in cognitive or behavioral neuroscience. Graduate students in the program specialize in one of our four research areas. Students undergo vigorous training and have opportunities to develop interdisciplinary skills. Ph.D. graduate students are accepted on a full-time basis and are expected to finish degree work in 4-5 years.
Ph.D. in Integrative Biology: Neuroscience
The Integrative Biology-Neuroscience (IBNS) is a joint FAU-Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience program. The program, which admitted its first students in Fall 2011, is housed within the Department of Biological Sciences. Completion of the neuroscience concentration provides students with both knowledge and practical experience in the neuroscience field at an advanced level. In the evolving and growing field of neuroscience, students who complete the IBNS concentration will have the appropriate training to succeed both within and outside of academia. The neuroscience curriculum focuses strongly on knowledge-based and experimental-based neuroscience courses and includes training in scientific methodologies.
Neuroscience Graduate Program
A collaboration between the FAU Stiles-Nicholson Brain Institute and Charles E. Schmidt College of Science has resulted in the launch of a unique partnership to train the next generation of brain scientists through the newly announced Neuroscience Graduate Program (NGP). The innovative, multi-campus Ph.D. program will blend a comprehensive curriculum that ranges from molecules to mind with exceptional research opportunities, and will serve as a key element in FAU’s pursuit of groundbreaking interdisciplinary neuroscience research.
