Purification of Organisms With Emission of thermal Radiation (P.O.W.E.R. Bot)

Abstract

Sterilization of hospital and medical facilities are crucial to reduce risk infection for health care providers and patients. Current methods use bleach; however, this can lead to mistakes where microorganisms are missed and are left in the room to spread further infection or worse the microorganism might be spread to other areas. The objective of this project is to create a robotic device that can use more effective methods of sanitation. This robotic device will combine two techniques for sanitation: heat and mist. Bacteria and/or viruses can be denatured from any surface by heating the surface to 110 degrees Celsius. The device will feature three heat guns to ensure the floor reaches the desired temperature. The mist will be water sprayed through an atomizer located at the front of the robot and will be sprayed before heat application that will reduce the heat needed from 120 to 115 degree Celsius. The bot will be able to move across the floor manually and autonomously at a speed of .3 m/s. This movement will be due to two powerful motors. These motors will be able to rotate the bot by moving in a counterclockwise or clockwise fashion (one motor moving forward while the other is moving backwards or vice versa).
