FAU Broward Faculty awarded $3.1 million in Research Grants

In 2020, the FAU Broward Campus faculty were awarded $3,131,459 in grants to support their research and submitted over $15 million in grant proposals that are pending decision later this year. The grant award winners consist of faculty in Colleges, Centers and Campus partners located at the Davie, Fort Lauderdale and Dania Beach campuses: Charles E. Schmidt College of Science, College of Engineering and Computer Science, Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters, Florida Public Archeology Network, Small Business Development Center, and the Center for Environmental Studies. The most recent awarded grants include:

Dr. Rindy Anderson, Charles E. Schmidt College of Science for MDC-FAU STEM Research, Subcontract – Spring 2021 Miami Dade College Federal Flow Through. “This money is a subcontract with Miami-Dade College for an undergraduate research partnership where MDC students join the research labs of FAU faculty and complete semester-long research projects,” Dr. Anderson said. “Projects are completed during the Spring and Summer terms. The students then present their results at MDC research symposia. I have mentored six MDC students in my lab thus far on songbird behavior research in both the lab and the field,” Dr. Anderson said.

Dr. Monica Rosselli, Charles E. Schmidt College of Science for UF-State/Subcontractor, Communication of Dementia Diagnoses: Investigating Patient, Family & Clinician Experiences and Developing Best Practice and the Florida Small Business Development Center at FAU received a $100,000 award from the Town of Davie for 2021. "We are excited to partner with the Town of Davie. This strategic partnership will allow us to enhance the economic development team and provide business assistance for the growth of the region,” said Sandra Marin, Regional Director of the Florida SBDC at FAU.
